Padstow is a Cornwall seaside town that, like others of its ilk, has seen a renaissance in recent years. Padstow has all of the usual tourist shops that you would expect to find in a seaside town as well as some fairly decent local shopping. If you are looking for the ubiquitous high street nationals then you won’t find them in Padstow, what you will find is a fair selection of independent retailers selling a variety of things from seaside and beach articles to high fashion jewellery.
If you plan on doing some serious surfing while you are in Cornwall then Ann’s Cottage Surf Shop has all the latest in surfing gear and surfing wear. Make a splash on the beach with the latest and brightest surfing suits and surf boards and any other surfing accessories you set your heart on. Padstow sells hand crafted leather items that are made in the town using only English leather. Whether you want a new handbag, a tooled leather belt or maybe even a fancy new collar for your dog, Steve Brooks at Bagend Leather has it all. If you love the look, smell and feel of handcrafted leather, and who doesn’t, then pay this shop a visit.
Padstow is not a large town so all of the shops are fairly close together, so you won’t have to do too much walking, but if you need a break then stop for a coffee or just an ice cream at one of Padstow’s cafes and restaurants. At the Blue Wing Gallery you can buy beautiful silver jewellery in unusual yet modern designs, while you are there take a look at the work of some of the local artists and designers.
